Welcome to Range Report Pro. This manual walks through every screen of the App, organized the same way the App is: by the five tabs at the bottom of the screen, followed by the Profile & Settings screen, the Apple Watch companion app, and iPad support.
Range Report Pro turns a photo of your target into a score, a shot count and a group measurement; runs timed drills with an audible shot timer (optionally on video); keeps track of your firearms, maintenance, ranges and drills; charts your progress over time; and lets you share results with other shooters in the Community forum. No account is required — your data stays on your device and is backed up to your own iCloud or Google account.
The bar at the bottom of the screen has five tabs. Each tab remembers where you were, so you can switch tabs and come back without losing your place.

The Profile & Settings screen opens from the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Home tab.
First Launch
The first time you open the App you may see two short prompts:
Enable biometric lock? Choose whether the App should require Face ID, Touch ID or your device's fingerprint/face unlock each time it opens. You can change this later under Profile & Settings → Privacy and Security.
Cloud backup. A notice that the App backs up your data automatically to your own iCloud (iPhone/iPad) or Google Drive (Android) account so you can recover it after reinstalling or on a new device. You can turn this off under Profile & Settings → Backup & Restore.
Many screens also show a short introduction the first time you open them. Tap Got it to dismiss it.
Free and Pro Features
Most of the App is free. Features marked PRO in this manual require a Range Report Pro subscription or lifetime unlock. Locked features appear dimmed with a Pro label; tapping one shows the upgrade screen. You can upgrade from the Get Pro button on the Home tab or from Profile & Settings → Subscription.

2. Home Tab
The Home tab is your at-a-glance dashboard. It greets you by time of day (and by your Community nickname, if you have one) and summarizes your recent shooting.
In the United States, when the Range Report shop is open, a Range Report Shop card appears above your last session. Tapping it opens the shop (targets, caps and t-shirts) in your browser.
Greeting, last session and maintenanceMaintenance Reminders and Range NotesRounds fired and session cadence
Top Bar
Get Pro / Pro ✓ (top left): opens the upgrade screen. Once you are subscribed it shows Pro ✓.
A card summarizing your most recent session: the target or drill name, the date and how many days ago it was, the range and firearm (if recorded), the score and the number of shots. An arrow tells you whether the session was better than, not as good as, or about the same as the one before it. Tap the card to open the full session. If you have no sessions yet, you'll see a prompt to tap New Session.
Maintenance Reminders
Shown once you have firearms in My Vault. It lists the firearms that most need attention, with a status such as Never cleaned, Fired since last cleaning (250 rounds) or 12 days since last cleaning, and a colored dot: green OK, orange Due soon, or red Overdue. Tap a firearm to open its details and mark it cleaned.
Range Notes
Sticky notes for anything you want to remember at the range: ammo to buy, a sight setting, a drill to try. Swipe the carousel to browse your notes.
Tap Add new to write a note and pick its color, then tap Save.
Tap an existing note to edit it, or tap Delete to remove it.
Free users can keep up to 3 notes; Pro users can add as many as they like. PRO

The Session List
Each row shows the target (or drill) name, the date, the score, the firearm and the range. Small icons tell you more about a session:
Camera icon: the session has a video.
Photo icon: a timed drill that also has a scored target photo.
Layers icon with a number: the session has several strings (for example, several drills run during one range visit).
Manual label: the session was logged by hand.
Open a session: tap its row.
Sort: tap the sort icon (top right) and choose Date, Score, Target or Firearm. Target and Firearm sorting group your sessions under headings.
Delete a session: swipe the row to the left and confirm. This permanently deletes the session together with its photos and videos.
Log a new session: tap the + button. Choose Scan Target (recommended) to go to the New Session tab, or Manual Session to log one by hand (see Manual Sessions).
The Session Result Screen
Opening a session shows its full result. It is also the screen you land on right after scoring a new target.
Session details and scoreHole markers with Show measurement on
Target photo and markers
Every detected hole is marked on your photo. Pinch to zoom in on tight groups.
Add Markers / Delete Markers: switch modes, then tap the photo to add a missed hole or remove a wrong one. The score updates immediately.
Clear all markers: removes every marker so you can place them all yourself.
Show / Hide Measurement: draws a line between the two farthest-apart holes and labels the distance in millimetres.
You can change the marker color while placing markers; the default color is set in Settings.
If something looked wrong during scoring, a warning appears above the photo, for example Camera moved — results may be off, Possible multiple hits — two shots may share a hole, Too many detections, or No new holes found. You can always correct the markers by hand.
Score and group
Total Score (and Bullseye/X count on targets that have one) and the number of Shots.
Group (extreme spread): the distance between the two farthest holes, in millimetres.
Mean point of impact: where the center of your group sits relative to the center of the target.
Session details
Add or change the firearm used (from My Vault), the target distance (yards or metres), and the range (from My Ranges, or Add new range…). Recording distance lets Trends compare like with like. On a saved session, tap Edit first to make changes, then Save.
Sessions with several strings
Tap Shoot more to add another string to the same session: shoot, take a new photo, and you're back on this screen with the new string selected. Sessions with several strings show String 1 of N with arrows to page between them.
A firearm for each string: each string can be shot with a different firearm. The section reads Firearm · String N and changes the firearm for the string you're viewing. A new string starts with the firearm of the string before it. Each firearm's round count in My Vault counts only the shots from its own strings.
Delete a string: while editing, tap Delete string N (below Save) to remove the string you're viewing, along with its target photo and video. It's deleted when you tap Save.
Deleting string 1 of a photo session: when you shoot more strings on the same target, each new photo is scored against string 1. Deleting string 1 therefore deletes every string, which means the whole session; the App asks before doing so.
Save the new string: a string added with Shoot more is kept only once you tap Save. If you try to leave first, the App asks whether to discard it.
Ask Ranger (shot analysis) PRO
Tap Ask Ranger for coaching based on where your shots landed. Ranger asks which hand you shoot with and whether you used a one-hand or two-hand hold, then analyzes your group pattern and suggests what to work on.
Suggested drill PRO
Every saved session shows a Suggested for you card with one Ranger drill picked from that session: a slow draw, slow splits or transitions, or the shape of your group. Tap it to open the drill plan for the session's firearm. Timer-only and video drills get a suggestion too. Manual photo sessions get shot analysis once the target is marked on the photo (see Manual Sessions).
Sharing
Tap the Share icon (top right) to open the share sheet:
Share options
Share image: a summary card with your target photo, markers and score, ready for Messages, social media or email.
Share video: for Video Drill sessions, the clip with its shot-timer overlay burned in.
Post to Community: starts a new Community post with the image attached.
Copy summary: copies a text summary (score, shots, group, and drill times) to the clipboard.
Shared photos and videos carry a small Range Report watermark in the corner. Your stored photo is never changed.
Timed Drill Results
Sessions recorded with the shot timer show a shot-timer stats grid:

Stat
Meaning
Draw / Time to first shot
From the start beep to your first shot (only when the start beep was heard).
Stage time
From the start beep to your last shot.
Avg split
Average time between shots on the same target.
Avg transition
Average time to move the gun to a different target.
Avg move
Average time spent moving your feet to a new position.
Avg reload
Average time for a magazine change.
Best split
Your fastest split.
Split consistency
How even your rhythm was (lower is steadier).
Static / moving
Time spent standing still versus moving.
Hit factor
Score divided by time (IPSC/USPSA targets).
Par
Whether you beat the par time (PASS) or not (OVER), and how many shots were late.
Heart rate
Average and peak heart rate, when the drill was run with an Apple Watch.
Shot by shot: each pill is the time between two shots with a letter for what happened in that gap — S split, T transition, M move, R reload. The App guesses the letter from the timing (a faint outline means it's still a guess). Tap a pill to cycle it S → T → M → R; the averages update immediately and your choice is saved. A red outline means that shot came after the par time. Tap What do these mean? for a quick explanation in the App.
Sessions with several strings show String 1 of N with arrows to page between them; each string can have its own firearm, and while editing you can delete one (see Sessions with several strings). Video Drill sessions have a Watch replay button that plays the clip with its overlay. From a just-finished drill, Save and repeat drill saves the result and sets up the same drill again.
Below the stats, a short coaching tip may point out your biggest opportunity, for example that your transitions are much slower than your splits, or that the draw is the largest part of the string.
4. New Session Tab
Tap the Range Report logo in the middle of the tab bar to start a new session. First choose what you're shooting at.
Choose Target, Timer only and Video
Choose Target
NRA B-8: the standard bullseye target with ring scoring (10-X ring through 5).
IPSC / USPSA: the action-shooting target with zone scoring (A, C and D zones).
Other: any paper or backer that isn't a scored target. Enter its size (pre-filled with US Letter; mm, cm or inches) and the App counts your shots and measures your group without scoring them.
My Custom TargetsPRO: targets you have set up yourself. Swipe one to the left to delete it.
New custom targetPRO: set up your own target (see below).
"Other" backer sizeNew Custom Target
Custom Targets PRO
Score any target you shoot on:
Enter a name and the backer width and height.
Choose a scoring style: Ring (precision), Zone (IPSC-style), Points-down (IDPA-style) or Binary (hit or miss), and an optional miss penalty.
Frame the whole target square-on and capture a photo.
Calibrate: tap to set the center, then tap the edge of each scoring ring (or draw each zone) and enter its value. Mark the innermost ring as the X ring if your target uses one as a tiebreaker. Use Zoom in for precise placement for accuracy.
Tap Save. Your target now appears under My Custom Targets.
How Do You Want to Score?
After picking a target you choose how to score it. At the top of this screen you can also link a firearm, the target distance and the range for the session.
Session detailsScoring modes
Single photo (recommended): one photo of your shot-up target. The App finds your hits automatically using on-device machine learning.
Shooting on a used target? Snap the target before you shoot and again after. Only the new holes are counted.
Timed DrillPRO: mount your phone on a tripod and zoom in so your shots are visible. The shot timer runs your drill, and on the final buzzer the App captures the photo for you automatically, so you never touch your phone mid-drill.
Taking the Photo
Hold the phone square-on to the target with the whole target in view. Use the zoom slider if needed. The framing guide is only a guide; the whole photo is used.
Tap Capture Photo (or Capture Baseline then Capture Result for a used target).
Review the photo: tap Use this or retake it.
Mark the target: the App may ask you to tap a few reference points (for example the edges of the black circle, or the corners of the target) so it can line up the scoring. Drag a point to adjust it, then confirm.
The result opens. Check the markers and save.
Tip: Even, bright lighting and a square-on photo give the most accurate results. Avoid harsh shadows across the target.
Shot Timer: Timer Only and Timed Drills
No Target (under Timer only) runs the shot timer with no photo, and is free for everyone. The same drill panel is used by Timed Drill and Video Drill.
Par Time modeShot Count modeRun a saved drill
Drill modes:
Par Time: choose a window of 3, 5, 8 or 10 seconds. After a random start delay you hear the buzzer, and a second cue tells you when the window has closed. Use it when the clock is the standard you're shooting against.
Shot Count: set how many rounds you'll fire. The timer starts on the buzzer and stops by itself once it hears that many shots.
Free Run: no window and no count. The timer runs until you tap Stop, counting shots as it hears them.
Run a saved drill: load a drill from My Drills. Its timed layout sets the mode, par time and shot count, and labels your splits afterwards.
Tap the ? icon on the drill screen for a reminder of how each mode works. Tap Start Drill. The screen shows large color signals: amber STAND BY, green GO (with the elapsed time or live shot count), and red STOP. If your phone's volume is low, the App warns you first, because you may not hear the cues over the range.
Check what we heard: after each string the App shows the shots it detected (time to first shot and every split). Other lanes and echoes can fool the microphone, so add or remove shots and correct times here before saving. If the start beep wasn't heard, you get splits only, with no draw time.
Tip: Drill audio is analyzed on your phone and discarded. It is never stored or uploaded.
Video Drill PRO
Records your drill on video with a live shot-timer overlay.
Set the phone where it can see you and the target, turn up the volume, and frame the shot with the zoom slider. Zoom is locked while recording. Use the camera button to switch between the back and front camera.
Choose Par Time, Shot Count, Free Run or a saved drill, and tap Start Drill. Recording starts right away; after a random delay you hear the buzzer.
Shot times appear over the video as they are heard, and the clip keeps rolling for a few seconds after the drill ends.
Correct the shot count or times if needed, then save. Tap Retake to discard the clip.
From the result, tap Watch replay to play the clip with its overlay, or Share with overlay to export a copy with the overlay and watermark burned in. The video stays on your phone.
Manual Sessions
No target handy, or just an old photo? Log a session by hand from History → + → Manual Session.
Pick the targetSession Details
Pick the target you shot at (custom targets are PRO).
Session Details: date, firearm, distance and range, then tap Continue.
Add a photo (take one, choose from your gallery, or Skip — no photo).
Score it: with a photo, tap each hole to place a marker, choosing the zone or score for each marker first (pinch to zoom). Without a photo, enter the shots fired and total score.
Mark the target (optional, photo only): drag the four numbered handles onto the target's corners, or on a B-8 onto the edges of the black circle. The App can then measure your group size and offer Ranger shot analysis. Your score doesn't change. Tap Skip if you don't need it.
Save. Choose Add another to log the next one right away.
Manual sessions show a Manual label in History. Open one to edit its details or markers, or to add a photo later.
To mark the target on a session you have already saved, open it and tap Mark target above the photo, or tap Edit and then Mark target (or Adjust target marks to move them).

8. Apple Watch
On a busy indoor line, a neighbor's shot can sound almost as loud to your phone as your own. The Range Report watch app feels each shot at your wrist, so it counts only your shots, even with other lanes firing.
Install: open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Range Report from Available Apps. Profile & Settings → Devices shows the link status.
Start from the phone: when you start a Timed Drill, Timer Only drill or Video Drill, the App asks Start here or Use watch. With the watch, your shots are counted by wrist motion; the result tells you which device counted them.
Start from the watch: with a drill screen open on the phone, tap Start on the watch to be at the line when the drill begins.
Watch alone: run timer-only drills (Par Time, Shot Count, Free Run, or a saved drill synced from your phone) without your phone. Results import into History the next time you open the App. In the watch settings, choose whether drills from one visit are grouped into one session or saved separately.
Drills run with the watch can include your heart rate. Audio and motion data never leave the watch; only shot times are sent to the phone.
If the watch can't connect, the phone falls back to its own microphone.
9. iPad
On iPad the same five sections appear in a side navigation rail, or as bottom tabs in Split View and Slide Over. Larger screens use two panes: History and Reports show the list on the left and the selected session or post on the right, and Home arranges its cards in a grid. Resizing the window never loses your place.
10. Tips & Troubleshooting
Too many or too few holes detected: retake the photo square-on in even light, or correct the markers by hand with Add/Delete Markers.
Shooting on a target with old holes: use Shooting on a used target? so only new holes are counted.
Shot timer missed or added shots: correct them on the Check what we heard screen. For crowded lines, use an Apple Watch.
No start beep heard: turn up your phone volume. Without the beep, you get splits but no draw time.
Pro not showing after purchase: Profile & Settings → Restore purchases.
Moving to a new phone: make sure a recent backup exists (Backup & Restore → Back up now), then restore it on the new phone. Keep your Community recovery code to get your nickname back.
Zeroing clicks seem off: confirm the printed target's scale bar measures exactly 100 mm, and check the click value and distance.
